One of the most expected Tamil films of this year has just crossed the Censor Board's table, and it has been stamped with a clean 'U' certificate. 'Nanban' is director Shankar's produce. Shankar who does his own scripting for his films has deviated from his usual style for the first time, and is going in for a remake this time around with 'Nanban.' The Bollywood blockbuster original '3 Idiots' with Aamir Khan in the lead was inspired from Chetan Bhagat's contemporary novel 'Five Point Someone' and 'What Not To Do At IIT.'
Shankar's Tamil remake has a bevy of stars with Vijay helming as Panchavan Parivendan (Pari), Jiiva as Sevalkodi Senthil and Srikanth as Venkatramakrishnan. Ileana is the heroine. Veteran actor Satyaraj will the done the role of Virumandi Santhanam (Virus), the dreaded professor and Sathyan will appear as Srivatsan. Director SJ Suriya too has a small but pivotal role to perform.
The music for 'Nanban' by Harris Jayaraj, which was launched a few days ago from Coimbatore is doing very good sales. With a lot of peppy numbers and friendly tunes and Shankar's trademark "grandeur," 'Nanban' is all set to release on January 12th right on time for the Pongal weekend.
Expectations are already sky high because of the names involved with the project. Shankar has grouped in the best crew in the industry. Antony is the editor, cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa and music is by Harris. A song has been choreographed by Bollywood's Farah Khan.
