‘Velayudham’ gearing for completion

When ‘Kavalan’ was to release, there seemed to be no takers for Vijay films. The actor met with many glitches and had to face some hardships before the release of the film. All that changed post the release of ‘Kavalan’. Offers started pouring in for Vijay who seemed to accept them all with grace. Now the actor has a handful of films with top directors of the country from South India. As we all know he is doing ‘Nanban’ with director Shankar, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ with Mani Rathnam and his next release ‘Velayudham’ with director M. Raja.
‘Velayudham’ is gearing up for completion and is in its post-production stages. Vijay helms this project with Genelia and Hansika Motwani as his heroines. Like in most Vijay films this film will see Vijay with a younger sister in Saranya Mohan. Genelia will be seen as a journalist and Santhanam will supply the film with steady doses of comical interludes. M.S. Bhaskar will portray an important character in the film.
Here are some important aspects of the film just for the fans of “Ilaya Thalapathi” who are eagerly awaiting news about their hero. For one the film is about a normal man who becomes a hero, and the circumstances surrounding him and his loved ones. The camera will pan the lush greeneries of some villages in Tamil Nadu as well as the glamour of some cities in India; some songs have been shot from exotic locales in Europe.
‘Velayudham’ is produced by V. Ravichandran under the Aascar Films banner. The music for the film has been tuned by Vijay Antony. His earlier stint in Vijay starrer ‘Vettaikaran’ was a huge hit. This film too has expectations running high on the music.

Vijay spotted at Ampa mall..!(skywalk)

The third schedule for Nanban is proceeding at a brisk pace. Today the shoot was at Ampa Valley (Skywalk) Mall situated in Ponamallee High Road. Some scenes with Vijay and Ileana were shot. Vijay looked very youthful and handsome wearing cool blue jeans and a tee. Ileana looked lovely and was wearing a trendy outfit that showed off her curves to maximum advantage.
The shoot had to be held in the midst of tight security as a huge crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars. Shankar was very strict and sent crew members around to issue instructions to the crowd. Onlookers were asked not to use their cameras or video recorders.
Vijay did the scenes like the consummate professional he is and took only three takes to perfect the shot. Ileana had a little more difficulty as she struggled with her Tamil but in the end, the director was satisfied.
Harris Jayaraj is almost finished with the music and the audio will be released soon.

Jayalalitha in Velayutham’s audio launch?

If reports from Kollywood are to be believed, the AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha has agreed to participate in the audio launch function of Velayutham. Vijay’s father, director SA Chandrasekar had supported the AIADMK during the current elections and had campaigned for the party.
Following this, there were rumors that Jayalalitha would attend the audio launch of Sattapadi Kuttram but this did not happen as she was busy with the election campaign. With the elections out of the way now, it is expected that Jayalalitha would grace the audio launch of Velayutham. Sources also say that Velayutham’s producer Aascar Ravichandran is making arrangements for a grand event at the Nehru Indoor Stadium.

The music scored by Vijay Anthony seems to have impressed Sony Music officials so much so that they decided to pay a record price for its audio rights. Nanban team goes back to college

Shankar is determined to finish Nanban in record time. The third schedule of the film commenced recently with important scenes being filmed in Sri Sairam Engineering College. Once this is done, the songs will be shot in foreign locations which Shankar has picked out himself as they are the trademark features of his films. London, Spain, and Andaman Islands have been decided on.
Harris Jayaraj is doing the music which is likely to be released in August so that Nanban can have a Diwali release. Shankar wants to stay true to the original version (3 Idiots) while deftly incorporating changes to suit the regional palate. It is definitely a film to watch out for.

Velayutham - A real treat of vijay fans - Raja

“I always wanted to do a film with Vijay. My longtime wish has come true with ‘Velayudham’, which is about a commonman’s vision to set thing rights in the society,” says ‘Jayam’ Raja.
The director, who is known for delivering hits non-stop, is excited and thrilled about working with the Ilaya Thalapathi. “Only Vijay could do justice for the role he is playing in Velayudham,” he says.
“The challenge in front of me is to justify the mass image of Vijay, without any compromise in the logic. I am sure that ‘Velayudham’ will be a real treat to his fans,” Raja says with all hope.
Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, most part of ‘Velayudham’ is complete. “Vijay Antony has come out with stunning songs. We are planning to release the film soon,” concludes the director.

Super fast Shankar's Nanban shooting...

Director Shankar is well known for his slow and steady style of functioning but looking at the fast paced progress of Nanban, seems he is working overtime to present the project to the audience soon.
The third schedule of shooting of Nanban is likely to be canned in London and Buckingham. The music for the film is being churned by Harris Jayraj.

Vijay suprises STR, Jai

It is an open secret that Simbu and Jai are ardent fans of Ajith and hardly did they miss an opportunity to hail the Thala and his 'affection' on them.
So naturally, they had little apprehension to invite Vijay for a simple party organised to celebrate the birthday of Jai on the sets of 'Vettai Mannan' at Binny Mills in Chennai, on Wednesday.
The reason behind inviting Vijay is- the Ilaya Thalapathi too was shooting at the same place, for 'Velayudham'. As soon as he came to know that STR was holding a birthday bash for Jai, the top actor rushed to the spot and greeted his junior.
Needless to say, this gesture of Vijay has made both STR and Jai happy.

Some changes in ‘Nanban’: Shankar

One has to come to a conclusion that ‘Nanban’ will be a faithful remake of ‘Three Idiots’, going by what Shankar has to say about this pet project of him. “We have not made any big changes to the script,” he says.
“When we were working for Enthiran near Pune, the shooting had to be canceled for some unavoidable reasons. So we watched Three Idiots at a nearby theatre,” says Shankar, recalling how the seed was sown.
He adds: “The script pulled me towards it like a magnet and I was thoroughly impressed watching the movie. Immediately I thought of acquiring the remake rights. Later I myself decided to direct it in Tamil.”
Shankar, who feels that the original script itself was too good, says, “So we didn’t make any big changes, but for some minor alterations. Moreover, there would be a general tendency among the audience to compare both the versions if there are many changes.”

Hansika to romance Vijay again

It seems luck is working overtime in favour of Hansika Motwani. The actress's maiden venture 'Mappillai' hit the screens only yesterday, but she has three more promising projects in hand.
And now, Hansika has made another prize catch- by becoming the heroine of Vijay's forthcoming film with Seeman, titled 'Pagalavan'. Remember she is already working with the Ilaya Thalapathi for 'Velayudham'.
Other projects in which Hansika is currently part of are 'Jayam' Ravi starrer 'Engeyum Kadhal' directed by Prabhu Deva and Udhayanidhi Stalin starrer 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' directed by Rajesh.

Is It Priyanka chopra or Anushka? in Ponniyin selvan.

Reports from Bollywood say that Priyanka Chopra has been approached for a role in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. The actress is not new to the Tamil film industry as she has already starred opposite Vijay in Thamizhan, which was released way back in 2002.
Interestingly, there is a talk that Vijay will play the main lead Ponniyin Selvan. The film will have two heroines and one of them is Anushka, sources say. Priyanka has not given her go-ahead till now and considering this to be a Mani Ratnam film she may not let go of the opportunity, we hear.

Velayutham’s last schedule

The last schedule of Velayutham is scheduled to begin in Chennai very soon. The film starring Vijay, Genelia and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles is expected to be released on Vijay’s birthday which falls on June 22nd.
According to sources close to Velayutham’s director Jayam Raja, apart from the final schedule, there is yet another song that needs to be shot and the team will be leaving to a foreign location very soon.

Nanban to have Mass release on Diwali

Shankar is working at record speed to wrap up Nanban. He has already completed two schedules and is planning on maintaining the same speed for the third schedule which is due to begin soon. The super-successful director usually takes a long time to complete his films as he is very particular about detailing and also has a tendency to re-shoot extensively.
But given that Nanban is a multi-starrer with big stars like Vijay and Telugu sensation Ileana who are also involved in other projects and have limited dates, Shankar is working at a fast and furious pace in order to avoid date hassles and other complications.
Insiders say that the director is urging Harris Jayaraj to give him all the songs quickly so that the audio launch can be held in September making a Diwali release possible. Two songs have been completed and Harris is working round the clock to finish the rest of the music. Will Nanban explode in theatres on Diwali? We certainly hope so.

Velayudham has a surprise for the fans!

Vijay’s Velayudham directed by ‘Jeyam’ Raja is racing towards the finish line. Fans expect the movies of Ilaya Thalapathi to have superb action and songs with their idol doing some fabulous dance moves and Vijay wants to make sure that his fans are not disappointed. He and the director have gone the extra mile to ensure that the fans get what they want and also surprise them by taking the action and dance numbers to the next level.
The climax scenes have been shot under the supervision of a stunt choreographer from Hollywood, Tom Delmar and the makers are confident that it will be breathtaking. The action is simply superb and the finale is going to be well received by the audience.
Vijay Antony is doing the music and he has composed some peppy tunes that are going to rock. The introduction song has been shot with 1000 dancers and took about 1.25 crores to make. It is supposed to be his best intro ever. The audio will be released towards the end of April and ‘Jeyam’ Raja wants to release the movie on Vijay’s birthday on June 22nd.

Vijay fans club chief SACked

Looks like the decision to support the AIADMK-led alliance has not gone down well with a section of Vijay fans. Close on the heels of some members of Vijay Fans Club coming out in open protesting the move, a key office bearer has now been sacked from the organisation.
C Jayaseelan, the State president of the Vijay Fans Club, and another office bearer were expelled for ‘anti-club activities’, according to a press release issued by S A Chandrasekar.
SAC, who is the founder and general secretary of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, said in the release that a unanimous decision was taken to support the AIADMK-led front in the Assembly elections. But these two indulged in activities against the official decision.
Meanwhile, sources have it that both would soon enroll themselves in the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Chandrasekar, soon after meeting Jayalalitha in Trichy more than a week ago, said that Vijay’s Makkal Iyakkam will support AIADMK and make sure it comes back to power to set things right in the State.
